The first sits in an air-conditioned office, wondering where to go to cool off. The second group has long known that Bratislava offers a surprisingly wide variety of swimming spots: from classic city pools to gravel pits 30 meters deep, all the way to year-round water parks half an hour outside the city. The difference between a successful and a wasted summer day often isn’t the water itself, but whether you know where to go and how to get there. You can purchase tickets in advance online at kupaliska.bratislava.sk and you'll save money compared to paying at the register.

The online price is the same across all locations: €5.50 per adult for a full day and €4.50 after 5:00 p.m. Children ages three to eighteen pay €4; after 5:00 p.m., €3.50. Seniors and holders of a disability card pay €3; children under three enter for free. At the ticket office, prices range from 6 to 8 euros, depending on the specific swimming pool. If you plan to go regularly, it’s worth buying a 10-visit pass for 49.50 € or a season pass for 99 €, or a children’s pass for 69 €.

The individual sites vary in both size and character:

Golden Sands (Ružinov) is the city's largest recreational complex, with a capacity of 15,000 people, a beach, and water sports

Tree Frog (Dúbravka) has four pools, including a 50-meter pool, and, following a major renovation, now features a new children's pool and a dining area

Brick Field (Nové Mesto) features three swimming pools and can accommodate 2,700 visitors

Dolphin (Ružinov) has three swimming pools and water slides, and is within walking distance of Nívy

Mičurín (Old Town) is the smallest and most atmospheric 20-meter pool on Búdková Street below Slavín, with a capacity of 150 people and a summer amphitheater

Lamač features three swimming pools surrounded by greenery and a volleyball court

Krasňany a Rača They cover the northeastern part of the city with two pools each

Tip: Tickets after 5:00 p.m. are one euro cheaper, and in July and August, you still have three hours of full sunshine. The main attraction is a 50-meter Olympic-size pool with a depth of over two meters, where three lanes remain reserved for swimmers even during regular operating hours. Children have access to heated wading pools, a slide, and a trampoline; there are over 100 free lounge chairs available, and sports equipment can be rented. Morning swimming sessions are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.

If the weather isn't cooperating or you want to swim out of season, check out the indoor pools. Petržalka Swimming Pool It is open daily from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., including holidays, and features a 25-meter pool with five lanes, a relaxation pool with a whirlpool, a children’s pool for the little ones, and a sauna area. Most of Bratislava’s lakes were created by gravel mining, and today they offer the most accessible way to cool off.

Golden Sands With an area of 54 hectares and a depth of up to 30 meters, it is the largest lake in the city. The lake in Ružinov is located about seven kilometers east of the city center; a tram line terminates here, and a parking lot leads to the main entrance. Here you’ll find well-maintained beaches, sports facilities, pedal boat rentals, a campground, and cabins.

Kuchajda The lake in Nové Mesto is the most urban of them all.
